Guide to Fixing Amazon Error 5665 for New Sellers
Error 5665 is a common hurdle when you try to list a product under a new, unregistered brand name. Here's how to resolve it.
Registering your brand is a crucial step for selling on Amazon.
When you enter a new brand name into the 'Brand Name' field while creating a product listing, Amazon checks if this brand has been approved. If not, you will receive error message 5665. This is to prevent the use of invalid brand names.
What Causes Error 5665?
This error occurs because Amazon requires proof that you are the legitimate owner of the brand, or that your brand is real, even if it hasn't been officially trademarked.
Steps to Fix the Error
To get your brand approved by Amazon, you need to open a case with support and provide the following evidence:
- Take photos of the product and packaging: Provide real-life images of the product and/or its packaging. Most importantly, your brand name must be **permanently** printed or affixed to the product/packaging. Temporary stickers or photoshopped logos will not be accepted.
- Open a Case with Support: In Seller Central, go to 'Help' and create a new case. Clearly state that you are encountering error 5665 and would like to request approval for your new brand.
- Provide information: The support team will ask you to provide the brand name and the images you prepared in step 1.
- Wait for approval: This process usually takes 24-48 hours. Once approved, you can go back and list your product with your brand name without encountering the error again.
The best long-term solution is to enroll in the Amazon Brand Registry program. This program requires you to have an officially registered trademark, but it provides more powerful brand protection and building tools.
