Effective Team Management: Optimizing User Permissions on Amazon
As your business grows, you'll need more help. Amazon Seller Central's 'User Permissions' feature lets you grant access securely without sharing your main password.
Proper permission management is key to secure operations.
Sharing your main account login credentials is a serious security risk. Anyone with access can change banking information, delete products, or cause irreparable damage. User Permissions is the solution.
Why are Permissions Important?
- Security: Each user has their own secondary account. You can revoke access at any time without affecting the main account.
- Control: You can grant very specific permissions. For example, one employee can only view sales reports, while another can manage FBA inventory and advertising.
- Accountability: Amazon logs the action history of each secondary account, making it easy to trace issues when they occur.
How to Invite and Set Permissions for a New User
- Access User Permissions: Log in to Seller Central, go to `Settings` > `User Permissions`.
- Invite a new user: Enter the name and email address of the person you want to invite and click 'Send Invitation'.
- Wait for confirmation: The invitee will receive an email with instructions to create their own secondary account.
- Set Permissions: After they accept the invitation, you will see their name in the list. Click 'Manage Permissions' and select the specific rights you want to grant them (View, Edit) for each section like Inventory, Pricing, Advertising, Reports, etc.
The golden rule: Grant the least privilege necessary. A person should only have access to what they absolutely need to do their job.
